The Idaho Food Bank
Since 1984, through community partnerships, The Idaho Foodbank has distributed 45 million pounds of food.
In 2003, the Foodbank distributed a record 4.44 million pounds of food at its three sites.
In 1985 the Foodbank supplied 200,000 pounds of food.
In 1989, it reached one million pounds.
The Idaho Foodbank serves a network of more than 200 smaller agencies, including food pantries, kitchens and senior centers, all of which distribute food to those in need at no cost to the recipient.
Needy people received food assistance from the network of Foodbank-supplied agencies 543,261 times in 2003, an increase of 1,258 times from 2002.
This reflects the economic decline Idaho has experienced.
