The families of children with emotional, behavioral, and mental disorders in Idaho identified a need for a statewide family organization to be created so that their voices might be heard and their needs met.

The Idaho Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, Inc. was founded in January of 1999 to provide an opportunity for these family members to work with all groups and individuals who wish to improve the lives of their children, as well as improve services and access to those services.
The Idaho Federation will also work to develop a coalition of groups and individuals who will add their voices and speak as one to policy makers, professional organizations, legislators, educators, and the general public about the needs of children with emotional, behavioral, and mental disorders and their families.
