What began in 1984 as a modest display of 14 trees in a local warehouse has grown to become a yuletide extravaganza that has raised over $5 million to improve healthcare in our community - proving that Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees is more than just the hottest holiday ticket in town, it is a celebration of what can happen when people work together for a greater good.

The annual Boise Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration presented by Zions Bank 2010. Make sure to attend at the Boise Centre on the Grove. Starting November 27th - December 24th, Christmas in the City will be celebrated in downtown Boise. It starts the night of the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration and concludes on December 24th. It will be a great holiday party with Downtown Boise glowing in a festive radiance of holiday lights, retail shops, fine dining, and Santa roaming around in BODO. For 7 years the Old Chicago Restaurant at 730 W Idaho St has been offering homeless and displaced guests a place for holiday cheer providing blankets, school supplies, warm clothing, a Christmas meal with all the trimmings, and a special visit from Santa Claus.
